A portfolio of images I've taken over the past couple years. The first images (projects 1-7) are for a digital photography class I finished.

Project 10
Here is an image I took of some flowers in my backyard. As hard as it may be to believe, the flowers were originally all yellow (with green stems, of course), but with some very careful and meticulous work, I painted an adjustment onto the flowers and brought down the saturation. I also tweaked exposer, contrast, clarity, brightness, and what not and I think I made a nice work of art. I did not use my macro lens for this image (I didn't even have it yet), but that didn't stop me from trying to take macro-like images.
Enjoy
Project 9
This is a photograph I took in some unknown forest area in Washington. I took it in broad daylight and in full color, but I wanted to test my skills at manipulating a photograph taken in the day to look like a night shot. I converted it to monotone first, then added some photo filters to layer a blueish color onto it. I also spent a lot of time adjusting the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, etc. I think I really got that effect and I feel it represents a neat moonlit scene.

Project 8 The Empty Street
I took this image with movie styles in mind. I wanted to project some techniques I've seen with filters and make the whole picture seem like a snapshot of a movie. I added the borders at the top and bottom to give a very blatant feel of watching a motion picture... just without the motion. I added film grain to bring out even more of that film look. I made this a monotone picture partly due to my affinity of monotone, but also because I felt it lent a hand to this feeling of seriousness. I wasn't trying to copy a movie in particular, but I did want something most people don't normally get when they watch a movie which is a feeling of dread. A feeling that, no matter how bright, how cool, it's bad and you don't want to be there. I like to see what emotions I can evoke in people and I like bringing something different. This is one example of that. And again, enjoy!
Project 7 Fallen Over
This is an image I took soon after I received my 58mm macro lens. It is an image of a chrome plated cup used for a cups and balls trick. I saw that it was shiny so I then proceeded to take some photographs of it. I enhanced the image in Photoshop CS4 (black and white conversion, clarity increase, brightness and contrast adjustment, etc.). I think this picture is a good representation of perspective and how we can change the way we perceive such insignificant objects. I hope you all enjoy
Project 6
For the first image, I chose to make a bit of a windy scene. I made a background gradient to represent the ground and sky and made some grass blades to enhance the scene. I added some extra gradients to add a little more detail to the scene and bring the observer's eyes to the center. I added some color overlays, an outerglow and embossing. I also smeared the text a little to make it seem windier.
I then made the second image to express a sense of doom as well as a dark humor or something similar. I chose an almost comical look of the word "falling" falling to earth. I found a large image of earth taken from orbit and warped the text to match the angle of the earth in the background. Before I did this, though, I made to duplicates of the text layer. I blurred both of them using a motion blur, but made one much more blurred than the other. Then I offset the layers to make the text appear to have a blurry trail. Then I merged all these together. I also added an outerglow to give a warmer look to the text as if it was burning in the atmosphere. when the text was complete, I went to the earth layer and smeared it around the base of the text to make it look like the text was pushing away the earth's atmosphere.

For the last image, I made a very sharp and crisp text scene by embossing the text and shaping it to a sharper form. I added a gradient to the text that also matched a gradient I added to the background layer. I added outer and inner glows to this set of text and rendered a lens flare to add shine and depth.
